Brian Oberman, General Manager

I have over 25 years experience in the concrete industry. As a previous owner and manager of my own coatings company, I understand the equal importance of high quality installations and superior customer service. Now as General Manager of Life Deck Coating Installations, I strive to exceed expectations for total customer satisfaction.

Our team is a leader in the waterproofing and concrete coating industry and I am excited to carry on Life Deck’s legacy. I work tirelessly to make Life Deck a safe and respectable place to work as well as a fun a creative place to install coatings. I have been lucky enough to be a part of the fast growing craft beer industry here in San Diego and have worked directly with dozens of brewers to achieve their brewery dreams.

As a water sports enthusiast, I really enjoy kayak fishing in La Jolla and spending time with family.

Gil Koury, Project Manager

I have been in the concrete business since 1981. With a strong eye for color and design, I will not only assist in making your project beautiful, I will also ensure that your project is worry free. I strive to always provide excellent customer service. I am passionate about my work and confident you will be satisfied with the end result. I am very knowledgeable in all the different types and styles of concrete coatings, but my specialty is in acid stains, epoxy, and custom finishes.

I have personally done projects with Sheraton Harbor Island, Westin Gaslamp, Hyatt Aviara, Humphrys and many other hotels. I have also done several projects with The Cohn Restaurant group, as I know David and Lesley personally. 

I would love to help you create and design a concrete coating that brings everything in your home or business together.

Scott Tischler, Project Manager

I’ve been employed by Life Deck since 1986. Over the last 29 years, it has become a great company to work for and represent. I have been successful in gaining incredible amounts of knowledge, resulting in my position as a senior specialist in the coating industry. Jeff Marshall, Project Manager

I’ve been with Life Deck for 29 years. I have supervised and managed many projects in San Diego such as the Hyatt Hotel, Coronado Shores, Hotel Del Coronado and many residential homes. My many years of experience at Life Deck have given me a good eye for design and color ensuring you a successful and attractive decorative coating.

As a deck inspection expert I can educate my clients on proper building and framing codes, proper flashing of the deck as well as design and build recommendations. For years, I have been a member of SDCAA, CREIA, SDCRA and am up to date on all roofing and decking construction codes. Over the years I have formed excellent working relationships with San Diego general contractors such as Greyhound General, Design Build Contractors and La Costa Builders.

I really enjoy spending time at the river with family and golfing in tournaments around San Diego.

Greg Driesen, Project Manager

I am originally from Syracuse, NY. I have been with Life Deck since 2005 beginning my coatings career as an installer. This hands-on experience has provided me with intricate knowledge of the different coating options and processes to create durable and decorative designs.

Some projects I’ve been involved with include Lincoln Military Housing, Loews Coronado, Wings N Things, Coronado Shores, Broken Yolk in Palm Springs and Broadstone of Coronado. My experience goes beyond commercial projects as I have also installed and managed hundreds of residential jobs throughout San Diego County. I look forward to working with you on your next project.

Paul Koury, President

Paul Koury was born and raised in San Diego, graduating from Hoover High School in 1977. Directly from high school, he began working in the concrete industry where he acquired experience in concrete resurfacing. In 1981, Paul began his own resurfacing company, Pacific Pebbles, which specialized in the installation of epoxy pebbles and waterproof deck coatings. He eventually expanded service to include decorative concrete coatings and renamed his installation company, Life Deck. As the company grew and the demand for superior coating products increased, Paul Koury developed his own line of products, named Westcoat (Life Deck’s sister company) and includes waterproof decking products, epoxies, concrete stains, and decorative overlays.

Now after more than 30 years in business, Paul manages Life Deck’s San Diego operations and distributes Westcoat-branded products to contractors and distributors throughout the United States.

Michelle Murillo, Office and HR Manager

Born in San Diego but raised in McAllen, Texas, Michelle returned to San Diego in 1984 where she graduated from Helix High School.

She obtained her certification in Human Resource Management from The University of Phoenix in 1985. She is currently working towards certification in Professional Human Resources as well as a Bachelor of Science in Business Management. Michelle is a Notary Public and Certified Signing Agent, a qualified member of Society for Human Resource Management and National Notary Association.

Her expertise in Human Resources, Accounting and Office Management has made her invaluable to Life Deck as she has also spent most of her career in the Architectural and Building Construction field.

Robert Bruno, Installations Manager

Robert has been nothing short of a dedicated team player during his 18 years here at Life Deck. His years as a crew chief in the field led him to gain the knowledge at an unprecedented level. Robert is onsite on almost every single job making sure each installation in done to perfection. The crews know they can call on Robert to troubleshoot the job and count on his expertise.

Robert is a hot rod motorcycle enthusiast and when he is not working he enjoys gardening and cooking.

Mike Moniz, Operations Support

A Chula Vista native, Mike began at Life Deck as an installer and has worked hard to move up to a crew chief where he spent ten years in the field.  His expertise is in Texture-Crete and our Grind Stain Seal process. Now as Operations Support Mike’s focus is making sure the crews get out in the morning with the supplies they need and manages the warehouse keeping it in tip top shape.

With a new baby at home he is pretty busy these days but Mike also enjoys playing live Reggae music and fishing when he can.
