Garages often become more than just a place to park cars—they turn into workshops, storage areas, and sometimes even showrooms for prized collections. Recently, we had the opportunity to transform a very unique residential garage that blended nostalgia with modern durability.
This garage housed a collection of classic bumper cars, making it one of the most interesting garages we’ve worked on. While the collection added personality and charm to the space, the garage floor beneath it had been in place for more than 25 years and was showing significant signs of wear.

The Challenge: A 25+ Year Old Garage Floor
The original coating had endured decades of use and environmental exposure. Over time, the surface developed:
Peeling and worn coatings
Surface deterioration and discoloration
Areas of cracking and damage
A dated appearance that no longer matched the character of the garage
With such a unique garage space, the homeowner wanted a flooring system that would both protect the concrete and elevate the overall look of the garage.
Step 1: Complete Floor Demolition and Surface Preparation
Before installing a new coating system, the existing flooring had to be fully removed. Our team began by:
Demoing and removing the old coating system
Grinding and profiling the concrete surface
Repairing minor imperfections and cracks
Preparing the slab for optimal adhesion
Proper preparation is the most critical step in a garage floor coating project. A well-prepared surface ensures the new system bonds correctly and performs for years to come.
Step 2: Installing a High Performance Epoxy Chip System
After preparation, we installed Liquid Granite from Westcoat, a professional-grade epoxy /polyaspartic coating system with decorative chips.
This system included:
Epoxy Base Coat – A strong bonding layer that anchors the coating system to the concrete slab.
Decorative Chip Broadcast – Colored vinyl chips are broadcast across the floor to add texture, durability, and a modern speckled look.
Protective Topcoat – A durable, clear topcoat seals the system and protects the surface from abrasion, chemicals, and daily wear.
This flooring system provides:
Exceptional durability
Slip-resistant texture
Resistance to oil and automotive fluids
Easy cleaning and maintenance
A polished, modern appearance
